Mid-America ATTC and the Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board have partnered to develop a new curriculum which will soon be released through this website. Funding for this collaboration was provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT).
Through the Diamond Threshold: Promoting Cultural Competency in Understanding American Indian Substance Misuse is an American Indian cultural awareness training curriculum. The two-day training provides a context in which participants explore how life experiences and Eurocentric perspectives have shaped American Indian alcohol and drug use. The curriculum is largely interactive in nature utilizing slide presentations, discussion groups, interactive activities, story-telling and videos.
