Native LGBTQ and Two Spirit

The National American Indian and Alaska Native ATTC is in the process of developing a Native American LGBTQ/Two Spirit curriculum. The intent of the curriculum is to help build and increase providers’ knowledge and response to the challenges of Native LGBTQ/Two Spirit people. The curriculum is developed in the spirit of collaboration and in partnership with other efforts to mobilize and restore harmony and balance for all Native people, including Native LGBTQ/Two Spirit individuals.

Our Center has contracted with six content experts to write each of the six modules in the one-day training. On June 11 of this year, the Native American LGBTQ/Two Spirit curriculum was pilot-tested to an audience of Native American providers on land governed by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians near San Diego, California. Content experts and ATTC staff are currently incorporating feedback and finalizing trainer notes. Training of trainer sessions are scheduled for the Fall of 2015.

Since 2014, the National American Indian and Alaska Native ATTC has been a proud partner in the Center of Excellence on racial and Ethnic Minority Young Men Who Have Sex with Men and Other Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Populations (YMSM + LGBT CoE).
